Hold or mount it at the desired height
Let the device record wind speed
Read the speed from the display or scale
Use a wind vane to check wind direction if needed
Convert cup rotations or sensor output into speed if using a manual device
Record the measurement in m/s, km/h, mph, or knots
Take multiple readings and average them if needed
