Pierce each sweet potato several times with a fork
Place on a microwave-safe plate
Microwave on high for 5 minutes
Turn the sweet potatoes over
Microwave for 3 to 5 more minutes
Check for tenderness with a fork
Microwave in 1-minute intervals if needed until soft
Let them rest for a few minutes before handling
Slice open and serve
