Park the car on a flat surface and switch off the engine
Pull the bonnet release lever inside the car, usually near the driver’s footwell or under the dashboard
Go to the front of the car and locate the bonnet safety catch
Slide or lift the safety catch while raising the bonnet
Lift the bonnet fully and secure it with the prop rod or hydraulic struts
Close the bonnet by lowering it gently and pressing it down until it clicks shut
