Mow the lawn short
Rake up debris and dead grass
Test the soil if needed
Choose the right grass seed for your climate and lawn conditions
Fill low spots and level uneven areas

Spread seed evenly over the lawn

Apply starter fertilizer if recommended

Keep foot traffic off the area until seed germinates
