How to Paddle SUP Boards?

Stand in the center of the board with feet parallel, shoulder-width apart

Keep knees slightly bent and core engaged

Hold the paddle with one hand on the top grip and the other on the shaft

Angle the paddle blade forward with the scoop facing you

Reach forward and plant the blade fully in the water near the nose of the board

Pull the paddle back alongside the board using your core and torso, not just your arms

Lift the paddle out of the water near your feet

Switch sides regularly to keep the board moving straight

Use short, smooth strokes for steering and longer strokes for speed

Keep your eyes forward and your weight centered

For turning, paddle more on one side or use a sweep stroke from nose to tail

For stopping, place the paddle in the water beside the board and drag lightly

For reverse paddling, flip the blade orientation and stroke from tail to nose

Maintain a relaxed grip and steady breathing

Step carefully and keep three points of contact when moving on the board
