Remove cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware
Label each piece for easy reassembly
Clean all surfaces with a degreaser
Sand all surfaces to remove gloss and improve adhesion
Fill holes, dents, and imperfections with wood filler
Wipe away dust with a tack cloth or damp cloth
Apply painter’s tape to protect surrounding areas
Apply a bonding primer in thin, even coats
Let the primer dry completely
Lightly sand the primed surfaces
Apply the first coat of cabinet paint in thin, even layers
Let the paint dry fully
Lightly sand between coats if needed
Apply a second coat of paint
Let the final coat cure fully before reassembly
Reinstall hardware, doors, and drawers
Avoid heavy use until the paint has fully cured
