Turn on the Apple TV or compatible device
Point the Apple Remote at the device
Hold the Menu and Right buttons together for about 6 seconds
Wait for the pairing confirmation on screen
If it does not pair, move closer and try again
If needed, unplug the Apple TV for 6 seconds, plug it back in, and try pairing again
If the remote is still unresponsive, charge or replace its battery and retry
