Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil
Test the soil pH and aim for 6.0 to 6.5
Select a healthy peach tree from a nursery
Plant in early spring or late winter while dormant
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and as deep as the roots
Remove the tree from its container and loosen circling roots
Place the tree in the hole with the graft union above soil level
Backfill with native soil and gently firm it
Water thoroughly after planting
Add mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk
Stake the tree only if needed
Water regularly during the first growing season
