Deal 10 cards to each player in the first round
Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile
Turn the top card of the draw pile face up to start the discard pile
On your turn, draw one card from either the draw pile or the discard pile
Try to make books or runs
Books are sets of the same rank
Runs are consecutive cards of the same suit
Use wild cards to help complete books or runs
In 5 Crowns, the wild card changes each round based on the round number
After drawing, discard one card face up onto the discard pile
You may lay down your completed melds when you are ready
When you lay down, keep any remaining cards in your hand as deadwood
The goal is to have the lowest score possible at the end of the round
A round ends when a player goes out by discarding their last card
Score the remaining cards in each player’s hand
Number cards score their face value
Jacks score 11
Queens score 12
Kings score 13
Jokers and wild cards score 20
The game has 11 rounds
Each round deals one more card than the previous round
The player with the lowest total score after all rounds wins
