Use a standard 52-card deck
Determine the number of players, usually 2 to 7
Deal 6 cards to each player
Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile
Flip the top card of the draw pile face up to start the discard pile
Choose a dealer and a first player
On your turn, draw a card if you have not already been dealt enough cards for the round
Play a card that follows the current lead suit if possible
If you cannot follow suit, play any card
The highest trump card wins the trick if trump is in play
If no trump is played, the highest card of the lead suit wins the trick
The winner of the trick leads the next trick
Continue until all cards are played
Score points based on the cards and bids used in your version of Pitch
Common scoring cards include high trump, low trump, jack of trump, and game points
Keep track of each player’s score across rounds
The first player or team to reach the target score wins
Follow any house rules agreed on before starting the game
