1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup rice vinegar or white vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine ketchup, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and salt in a saucepan
Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth
Heat the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves
Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan
Stir constantly until the sauce thickens
Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving
