Turn the stocking inside out down to the heel
Put your hand inside and hold the heel pocket
Slide your foot in until your heel fits snugly in place
Pull the stocking over your heel and ankle
Gradually work the stocking up your leg in small sections
Smooth out wrinkles and folds as you go
Do not bunch, twist, or roll the top edge
Keep the stocking evenly distributed from foot to knee or thigh
Use gloves or a stocking aid if needed
Put them on first thing in the morning if possible
Remove them at night unless your clinician told you otherwise
