Lay the harness flat and identify the neck, chest, and back parts
Loosen all adjustable straps
Have your dog stand or sit calmly
Slip the harness over your dog’s head or place the front opening around the chest, depending on the harness style
Position the chest piece on the front of the dog
Bring the straps under the body and around the sides
Fasten all buckles or clips securely
Adjust the straps so the harness fits snugly
Check that you can fit two fingers between the harness and your dog
Make sure the harness does not twist or pinch
Attach the leash to the correct ring
Walk your dog a few steps and recheck the fit
