Place avocados in a paper bag with a banana or apple
Fold the bag closed and leave it at room temperature
Check the avocados daily for ripeness
Put avocados in a warm spot, away from direct sunlight
Wrap avocados in newspaper and keep them at room temperature
Use a rice-filled container and bury the avocados in it
If already cut, brush the flesh with lemon juice and store in an airtight container to slow browning while ripening
Avoid refrigerating unripe avocados until they have softened
