Unplug the drill or remove the battery
Set the drill to reverse if it is a keyed chuck
Open the chuck jaws by turning the chuck sleeve counterclockwise
If using a keyed chuck, insert the chuck key into the chuck hole and turn it counterclockwise
Hold the drill steady while loosening the chuck
Pull the drill bit straight out once the chuck is open enough
If the bit is stuck, tighten and loosen the chuck slightly to free it
Check that the bit is fully released before storing the drill
