How To Relieve Chest Pain?

Call emergency services immediately if chest pain is severe, new, worsening, or lasts more than a few minutes

Stop activity and rest in a comfortable position

Loosen tight clothing

Take slow, deep breaths

If prescribed, use your nitroglycerin exactly as directed

If advised by a doctor, chew aspirin unless you are allergic or have been told not to take it

Avoid driving yourself if the pain is significant

Seek urgent medical care if chest pain comes with shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, dizziness, fainting, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, back, or shoulder
