Turn off the shower and let the water stop completely
Place a towel or cloth around the shower arm and shower head
Hold the shower arm steady with one hand
Turn the shower head counterclockwise with the other hand
Use an adjustable wrench if the shower head is stuck
Wrap the wrench with a cloth to avoid scratching the finish
Turn slowly until the shower head loosens
Remove the shower head by hand once it is free
Clean any old tape or debris from the shower arm threads
Inspect the threads for damage before installing a new shower head
