Blot the blood with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel
Use cold water to dampen the stained area
Blot again with a clean cloth
Mix a small amount of mild dish soap with cold water
Apply the solution to the stain with a cloth
Blot the area until the stain lifts
Rinse with cold water
Blot dry with a clean towel
Repeat as needed
Use hydrogen peroxide on light-colored carpet if the stain remains
Test hydrogen peroxide on a hidden area first
Apply a small amount to the stain
Blot gently
Rinse with cold water
Blot dry
Vacuum the area after it is fully dry
