Gather a screwdriver and, if needed, a small Allen wrench
Open the door
Look for visible screws on the inside doorknob or faceplate
Remove the screws
Pull the two knob halves apart
Remove the latch plate screws on the door edge
Slide the latch assembly out of the door
If there are no visible screws, find the small release hole or slot on the knob
Insert a pin or small tool into the release hole and pull the knob off
Remove any remaining trim or mounting plate screws
Keep all screws and parts together for reinstallation
