Keep the dog outside or in a well-ventilated area
Put on gloves
Check the eyes for irritation and flush with clean water if needed
Mix 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap
Apply the mixture to the dog’s coat immediately, avoiding eyes, nose, and mouth
Work the mixture into the fur for 5 to 10 minutes
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water
Repeat if needed, using a fresh batch each time
Wash the dog with a mild dog shampoo after treatment
Dry the dog completely with towels
Wash collars, harnesses, bedding, and blankets
Ventilate the house and car
Use an enzymatic pet odor remover on affected surfaces
Contact a veterinarian if the dog has eye irritation, vomiting, breathing issues, or severe exposure
