Use over-the-counter earwax softening drops as directed
Put a few drops of mineral oil, baby oil, glycerin, or hydrogen peroxide solution into the ear
Let the drops sit for a few minutes
Tilt your head to let the wax drain out
Gently rinse the outer ear with warm water
Dry the ear thoroughly with a clean towel
Use a bulb syringe with warm water if needed and if safe for you
Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or hearing changes
Do not use cotton swabs inside the ear canal
Do not use sharp objects or ear candles
See a doctor if the wax is impacted, symptoms persist, or you have ear pain, drainage, or a history of ear surgery or ear tubes
