How To Replace Coolant In Car?

Let the engine cool completely

Park on a level surface and set the parking brake

Open the hood and locate the coolant reservoir and radiator cap

Place a drain pan under the radiator drain plug or lower hose

Remove the radiator cap slowly

Open the drain plug or disconnect the lower radiator hose to drain the old coolant

Drain the coolant into the pan completely

Close the drain plug or reconnect the lower hose

Refill the system with the correct coolant type and proper water mix if required

Fill the radiator and coolant reservoir to the correct levels

Start the engine and turn the heater to maximum

Let the engine run until it reaches operating temperature

Check for air bubbles and add coolant as needed

Reinstall the radiator cap securely

Check for leaks around hoses, drain plug, and reservoir

After the engine cools again, recheck coolant level and top off if needed

Dispose of old coolant properly at a recycling or hazardous waste facility
