How To Replace Power Steering Fluid?

Park on a level surface and turn off the engine

Let the engine cool completely

Locate the power steering fluid reservoir

Check the fluid type in the owner’s manual

Remove the reservoir cap

Use a turkey baster or fluid pump to remove old fluid from the reservoir

Refill the reservoir with the correct new power steering fluid

Start the engine and turn the steering wheel slowly from lock to lock

Turn off the engine and recheck the fluid level

Top off the fluid if needed

Repeat the drain-and-refill process if desired for a more complete fluid change

Inspect for leaks around the reservoir, hoses, and pump

Replace the reservoir cap securely
