Turn off the water softener and unplug it
Close the main water supply valve
Relieve pressure by opening a nearby faucet
Bypass the old softener
Disconnect the inlet and outlet plumbing
Disconnect the drain line and overflow line
Remove the old softener unit
Place the new softener in position
Level the new unit
Connect the inlet and outlet plumbing
Connect the drain line and overflow line
Install the bypass valve if needed
Add salt to the brine tank
Turn on the main water supply
Check for leaks at all connections
Plug in the new softener
Set the time and regeneration settings
Flush the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Return the bypass valve to service mode
Test the water hardness after installation
