Choose a pot with drainage holes that is 1–2 inches wider than the current pot
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix
Remove the snake plant from its current pot gently
Loosen the roots and remove excess old soil
Trim any rotten, mushy, or damaged roots with clean scissors
Place a small amount of fresh soil in the new pot
Set the plant in the new pot at the same depth it was growing before
Fill in around the roots with fresh soil
Press the soil lightly to secure the plant
Do not bury the leaves or crown
Water lightly after repotting if the soil is dry
Wait before watering if the soil is already moist
Place the plant in bright, indirect light
Avoid overwatering after repotting
Repot only when the plant is root-bound or the pot is cracked
