How to Repot an Orchid Plant?

Choose a pot with drainage holes that is only slightly larger than the orchid’s root mass

Gather orchid potting mix, sterilized scissors, and a clean new pot

Water the orchid lightly before repotting to soften the roots

Remove the orchid from its old pot carefully

Gently shake off and remove the old potting medium from the roots

Trim away dead, mushy, or black roots with sterilized scissors

Keep firm, green, or white roots intact

Place fresh orchid mix in the bottom of the new pot

Position the orchid so the base sits at the same level as before

Fill around the roots with orchid mix without packing it tightly

Tap the pot gently to settle the medium

Do not bury the crown or stem

Water lightly after repotting if needed

Place the orchid in bright, indirect light

Resume normal care after the plant adjusts
