Turn the ignition off
Check and tighten the gas cap
Restart the vehicle
Turn the steering wheel fully left, then fully right, and return to center
Drive the vehicle at a steady speed for a few minutes
Turn the vehicle off and back on
Check the battery and battery terminals
Inspect ABS, traction control, and wheel speed sensors
Scan for diagnostic trouble codes with an OBD-II scanner
Clear stored codes after repairs
If the light returns, have the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic
