Check if your messages are backed up to Google Drive
Open Settings on your Android phone
Go to Google
Tap Backup
Confirm that SMS messages were included in the last backup
Factory reset the phone if you need to restore from a full device backup
During setup, sign in with the same Google account used for the backup
Choose to restore from the available backup when prompted
If using Samsung Messages, open Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch
Restore messages from Samsung Cloud if available
Restore messages from a Smart Switch backup on a computer or SD card
If you use a third-party SMS app, open its backup and restore option
Install the same messaging app you used before
Restore the backup file from local storage if you saved one
Check Google One backup settings to enable future message backups
