Bathe the dog with a flea shampoo labeled for dogs
Apply a veterinarian-approved flea treatment
Treat all pets in the household at the same time
Wash bedding, blankets, and washable toys in hot water
Vacuum carpets, rugs, furniture, and baseboards thoroughly
Empty the vacuum contents immediately after use
Clean the yard and remove debris where fleas may hide
Repeat flea treatments as directed on the product label
Consult a veterinarian if the infestation is severe or the dog is very young, old, pregnant, or ill
