Place the unripe avocado in a paper bag
Add a banana or an apple to the bag
Fold the top of the bag loosely and store at room temperature
Check every 12–24 hours for softness
For faster ripening, keep the bag in a warmer spot (not in direct sunlight)
If you need it ready immediately, wrap the avocado in foil and place in a 200°F (93°C) oven for 5–10 minutes, then check
After oven method, let it rest at room temperature for 10–20 minutes
To ripen without a bag, leave it at room temperature and check frequently
Once ripe, move it to the refrigerator to slow further ripening
