How to Score Baseball?

Record the batter’s result on each plate appearance

Use standard scorebook symbols for hits, outs, walks, strikeouts, and errors

Mark singles, doubles, triples, and home runs separately

Record runs batted in when a play drives in a run

Record runs scored when a player crosses home plate

Note the pitcher charged with each run

Track innings pitched, hits allowed, walks, strikeouts, and earned runs

Record fielding chances, putouts, assists, and errors for defenders

Mark stolen bases, caught stealing, and pickoffs

Note sacrifices, hit-by-pitches, and balks

Update the score after each half-inning

Keep the batting order and substitutions current

Use a scorebook or scoring app consistently throughout the game
