How To Season Cast Iron Skillet?

Wash the skillet with hot water and a stiff brush; dry completely

Apply a thin layer of cooking oil with a paper towel (wipe until no wet-looking oil remains)

Place upside down in a preheated oven at 450°F to 500°F (or use the smoke point of your oil)

Bake for 1 hour

Turn off the oven and let the skillet cool in the oven

Repeat oiling and baking 2–4 more times for a stronger seasoning layer

For best results, season after every use by wiping clean and applying a very thin oil layer

If rust appears, scrub off rust, re-dry completely, and re-season with the same process
