Open Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top right
Select See all settings
Scroll to the Vacation responder section
Turn on Vacation responder
Enter the first day
Optionally enter the last day
Type your subject
Type your message
Choose whether to send replies only to people in your contacts
Click Save Changes
