Put on gloves
Place a bucket or towels under the drain
Remove the drain cover or stopper
Insert the drain snake into the drain opening
Push the snake forward until you feel resistance
Rotate the snake handle clockwise while applying gentle pressure
Advance the snake farther into the clog
Keep rotating and pushing until the clog breaks up or the snake passes through
Pull the snake back out slowly
Wipe debris from the snake as it comes out
Run hot water to flush the drain
Repeat if needed
Reinstall the drain cover or stopper
Clean the area and wash your hands
