Remove and rinse the avocado pit
Identify the top and bottom ends of the pit
Insert 3 to 4 toothpicks around the middle of the pit
Suspend the pit over a glass of water with the bottom end submerged
Place the glass in a warm spot with indirect sunlight
Change the water every 2 to 3 days
Wait for the pit to split and roots to grow
Wait for a stem and leaves to emerge
Keep the roots submerged as they grow
Plant the sprouted pit in soil when the stem is several inches tall
Water the soil regularly after planting
