Engage the chain brake
Move the master control lever to the cold-start position
If equipped, press the primer bulb several times
Set the saw on the ground
Hold the front handle firmly with one hand
Place one foot through the rear handle
Pull the starter rope until the engine pops
Move the master control lever to the run position
Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts
Blip the throttle to let the engine settle to idle
Disengage the chain brake before cutting
