Put on safety glasses and gloves
Move the weed eater to an open area
Check that the cutting head is clear and the area is safe
Fill with the correct fuel mix if it is a gas model
Tighten the fuel cap
Set the ignition switch to ON
Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible
Move the choke lever to the closed or start position
If equipped, set the throttle lock or trigger lock
Place the tool on the ground firmly
Hold the shaft or handle securely
Pull the starter rope until the engine tries to start
Move the choke to the half-open or run position
Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts
Let the engine warm up briefly
Squeeze the throttle to begin normal operation
