How To Steam Lobster Tails?

Thaw lobster tails in the refrigerator if frozen

Fill a pot with 1 to 2 inches of water

Add a steamer basket or insert above the water

Bring the water to a boil

If desired, split the top shell of each tail with kitchen shears

Place lobster tails in the steamer basket

Cover the pot tightly

Steam until the meat is opaque and firm

Steam for about 6 to 8 minutes for 4 to 6 ounce tails

Steam for about 8 to 10 minutes for 6 to 8 ounce tails

Steam for about 10 to 12 minutes for larger tails

Remove from the pot with tongs

Serve immediately with melted butter if desired
