Open Google Photos
Tap your profile picture or initial
Tap Photos settings
Tap Backup
Turn off Backup
If needed, turn off Backup by device folder
If needed, pause backup from the app menu
On iPhone, also go to Settings > Google Photos > Photos and set access as needed
On Android, you can also disable background data for Google Photos
To stop backup for a specific device, remove that device from Google Photos sync settings
