Drink oral rehydration solution (ORS) in small, frequent sips
Drink plenty of clear fluids
Eat bland foods such as bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast
Avoid oily, spicy, and heavy foods
Avoid dairy products
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
Rest as much as possible
Wash hands regularly
Take zinc supplements if appropriate
Use anti-diarrheal medicine only if advised by a doctor
Seek medical care if there is blood in stool, high fever, severe pain, signs of dehydration, or diarrhea lasting more than 2 days
