Use fresh batteries in the Roku remote
Power off the Roku device
Unplug the Roku device from power for 30 seconds
Plug the Roku device back in
Wait for the Roku home screen to load
Open the battery compartment on the remote
Remove the batteries
Reinsert the batteries
Point the remote directly at the Roku device
Press and hold the Home button for 10 seconds
Press the Back and Home buttons together for 10 seconds
Move closer to the Roku device and try again
Remove any objects blocking the Roku device
Restart your TV if the Roku is connected through HDMI
Try the Roku mobile app as a temporary remote
Replace the remote batteries if syncing still fails
Use a different Roku remote if available
Check whether the remote is a simple IR remote or a voice remote
Use an IR remote by aiming it directly at the Roku device
Contact Roku support if the remote still will not sync
