Freeze the clothing in a plastic bag for 1 to 2 hours
Scrape off the hardened gum with a dull knife or spoon
Apply ice cubes directly to the gum if freezing is not possible
Use a stain remover or liquid laundry detergent on the residue
Rub in a small amount of white vinegar to loosen remaining gum
Soak the fabric in warm water with detergent
Wash the clothing according to the care label
Check that the gum is fully removed before drying
Repeat the treatment if any gum remains
Avoid putting the item in the dryer until the gum is gone
