How To Tape And Mud Drywall?

Gather drywall tape, joint compound, taping knives, mud pan, sanding sponge, and primer

Ensure drywall sheets are securely fastened and screw heads are slightly recessed

Fill gaps, dents, and screw holes with joint compound

Apply a thin coat of joint compound over seams

Embed drywall tape into the wet compound

Press the tape flat with a taping knife to remove air bubbles and excess mud

Cover the tape with a thin layer of joint compound

Apply compound over inside and outside corners as needed

Let the first coat dry completely

Apply a second coat of joint compound wider than the first

Feather the edges smoothly with a taping knife

Let the second coat dry completely

Apply a third finishing coat if needed

Sand the dried compound lightly until smooth

Remove dust from the surface

Prime the repaired drywall before painting
