Choose a quiet place with few distractions
Have small, tasty treats ready
Stand in front of your dog
Hold a treat close to your dog’s nose
Move the treat slowly upward and slightly back over the head
Wait for the dog’s rear to lower to the ground
Say “sit” as the dog begins to sit
Give the treat immediately when the dog sits
Praise the dog calmly
Repeat several times in short sessions
Practice in different places
Gradually reduce treat use
Reward the dog for sitting on command
Keep training sessions short and consistent
Stop if the dog becomes distracted or frustrated
