Place the buttons on a stable, easy-to-reach mat or board
Start with one button only

Press the button yourself while saying the word
Immediately give the reward or action linked to the button
Repeat many times in short sessions
Encourage your dog to touch the button with a paw or nose
Reward any intentional button press
Use the same word every time for the same button

Add only one new button after the first is reliable
