If you feel a sudden gush or continuous leaking of fluid, it may be your water breaking
If the fluid keeps leaking even after you empty your bladder, it is more likely amniotic fluid
If the fluid is clear or pale yellow and has little or no smell, it may be amniotic fluid
If the fluid smells like urine, it is more likely you peed
If the leaking happens when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or stand up, it is more likely urine
If you cannot control the leaking, it may be your water breaking
If the fluid soaks a pad and keeps coming, it may be amniotic fluid
If you feel wetness but are unsure, lie down for a bit and then stand up to see if more fluid leaks
If you are pregnant and think your water may have broken, contact your healthcare provider right away
If you have contractions, bleeding, fever, or decreased fetal movement, seek urgent medical care
