Fold the rope in half to find the center
Place the center under the horse’s chin
Bring both ends up and behind the ears
Cross the ends over the poll
Tie a secure knot behind the ears
Bring the ends down along each side of the face
Cross the ends under the jaw
Tie the noseband snugly but not too tight
Check that the halter sits evenly on the head
Make sure the rope does not rub the eyes or nostrils
