Open the reel bail or spool access
Thread the line through the rod guides if needed
Wrap the line around the spool arbor
Tie an arbor knot around the spool
Tighten the knot securely
Trim the tag end close to the knot
Close the bail or secure the spool
Add slight tension to the line
Wind the line onto the reel evenly
