Open the reel’s side plate or spool access
Place the line spool on the floor with the label facing up
Run the line through the rod guides from tip to reel
Thread the line through the reel’s line guide and levelwind
Wrap the line around the spool
Tie the line to the spool with an arbor knot or similar knot
Close the side plate
Hold the line with light tension
Turn the reel handle to wind the line onto the spool
Keep the line evenly distributed as it loads
Fill the spool to the recommended level
Cut the line and secure the tag end
Adjust the spool tension and brakes before casting
