Keep feet clean and dry; wash daily and dry thoroughly, especially between toes
Change socks daily (or more often if damp); use breathable socks
Wear breathable shoes; rotate shoes to allow drying between uses
Use antifungal treatment:
Apply an over-the-counter antifungal cream, spray, or powder (e.g., terbinafine, clotrimazole, miconazole, ketoconazole) to affected areas
Continue treatment for at least 1–2 weeks after symptoms improve (follow product directions)
If skin is very moist or cracked, consider an antifungal powder to keep feet dry
Treat both feet even if only one appears affected
Avoid sharing towels, socks, or footwear
Disinfect or replace items that contact feet (socks, insoles if applicable); wash towels in hot water
For severe or widespread cases, see a clinician for prescription antifungal therapy (topical or oral)
Seek medical care urgently if there is pain, swelling, warmth, pus, fever, red streaks, or if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system
